Kutani ware is one of Ishikawa Prefecture's most representative crafts. We selected "cute Kutani ware" for everyday use, a departure from the gorgeous, five-color Kutani ware, known as the Kutani Gosai. We were responsible for the creative direction and design of a 10-day limited-time pop-up at Kanazawa Station. The design theme was "simple yet easy to understand," focusing on "white," the color that underlies all of the vibrant Kutani Gosai, and featuring monochromatic text on the display surface. During the planning stage, we considered numerous ideas, including surface-pasting, arc-pasting, and the use of five colors, but ultimately settled on "simple," which fit the concept perfectly. The design was designed to ensure that the text would be inadvertently read in the busy Kanazawa Station concourse. The logo mark used for public relations purposes was colored with the five Kutani colors—navy blue, red, purple, green, and yellow—which are characteristic of Kutani ware. This POPUP features pop Kutani ware that can be used in everyday life, rather than the gorgeous and luxurious "works of art," and the playfulness is expressed by rearranging the letters.
