As the first step in LIFULL's project to enhance the value of unused vacation homes, we developed a sauna unit assembled using digital wood processing technology using a 3D printer. We also handled the visual branding design for the launch of "Rinne," a rental vacation home with a private sauna. The brand name, "Rinne," incorporates two meanings: reincarnation and a slope. Drawing on LIFULL's Finnish sauna as its formative experience, we conceived a logo design that evokes the richness of nature. As a modern design technique, we often use applications like Illustrator to create drawings, often incorporating the final product into the design. During our conversations, we focused on phrases like "saunas allow you to feel the seasons" and "the richness and tactile sensation of the body." We incorporated these concepts into the logo design through the physical act of tearing paper. It was extremely meaningful to be involved in this first project by LIFULL to uncover the potential of unused vacation homes across Japan.
